Course description
The books "Fotografieren wie ein Profi" (Rheinwerk Verlag) and "Fotografieren auf Mallorca" (iBooks) by Björn Göttlicher serve as the basis for this workshop. On the one hand it is about theory and practice of photography, as well as experiencing the most beautiful places and sights on the Costa Brava. These include landscapes, beaches and coastal towns.
How is the trip organized?
Meetings and theory take place at a hotel in Girona. The practice, the concrete photographing on site, should take place in the group. A rental car will be available for the participants (depending on the number of participants). The instructor is responsible for the destinations and the dynamics of the course. He is also the driver and therefore responsible for transport during the course. The participants themselves are responsible for the arrival and departure + hotel reservations.
Should the participants* bring pictures with them?
You are welcome to bring your own portfolio of previous photographs with you for this course. This can consist of a self-printed book or of a number of pictures belonging to a theme (about 10-15 per theme), which can be regarded as beamer presentations or prints. Björn Göttlicher would like to work out at least one individual course goal with each course participant*in this first picture discussion on the basis of the observation of single pictures and ideally picture series.
It's about seeing and learning
Photography is always about putting your own viewing habits to the test. That's why detailed picture discussions are so important. Designing and composing a photograph is both a craft and an art at the same time. You can learn the craft partly with the help of the theoretical material, which the lecturer brings to you.
Art comes from ability
But in photography, too, art comes from skill - which is just another term for the school of seeing and the individual act of photography. This is how it goes into practice. Göttlicher supports the participants in finding new photographic challenges in the most beautiful places in Catalonia, Spain.
Itinary of a 5-day course
1st day 9.30 a.m. Meeting
9.30 a.m. Meeting of the participants* at the hotel in Girona, getting to know each other, portfolio discussion at the hotel, walk through the old town of Girona, tour of the medieval city wall and the Jewish quarter, lunch. In the afternoon, excursion to Calella de Palafrugell at bays and beaches or cultural offer in Girona (depending on the season and initiative of the group).
Accommodation in Girona
2nd day meeting at 9.30 a.m.
9.30 Meeting at the hotel, excursion from Girona to Sant Feliu de Guixolls and Platja d'Aro. From there along the coastal road to Tossa de Mar. Back to the hotel.
Overnight stay in Girona.
3rd day 8.30 a.m.
8.30 Departure in Girona to Roses due to change of hotel. Excursion to l'Escala and to the ruins of Empúries. Lunch in Sant Pere Pescador. Return to Roses, visit the city of Roses.
Overnight stay in Roses.
4th day 9.30 a.m.
9.30 am Excursion to Figueres to the Museo Dalí. Further to Cadaques to the house of Dalí in the bay of Port Lligat. In the afternoon Cadaques and the Cap de Creus, return to the hotel in Roses.
Overnight stay in Roses.
5.day 9.00 a.m.
9.00 am Departure to the Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery at Cap de Creus. Walk and lunch in Port de la Selva. Return to the hotel in Roses.
Conclusion & feed back talk in the hotel. Departure and if necessary transport to Girona. End of the course.
From here the return journey of the participants* is their own responsibility.
