Kevin Scully trained at Wimbledon School of Art in London, and is a qualified and experienced tutor in painting and drawing in all mediums. He has excellent interpersonal skills and is an inspirational and patient teacher. Kevin is enthusiastic and creative, using demonstrations and one-to-one tuition to help students gain confidence and develop as individuals.
His tuition is relaxed and supportive, and he encourages students to progress at their own pace, whilst learning new skills, and of course to also have plenty of fun! He especially enjoys sharing his vast experience with others, and his work encompasses a wide range of subject matter where he concentrates on working from direct observation to produce paintings that contain just the bare essentials, and devoid of too much unnecessary detail.
He has worked as an artist in the theatre and television, and for many years as an illustrator in advertising and publishing. He has lived and painted in the Caribbean and The Canary Islands and has led groups on painting holidays to several countries including Spain, Gozo, Morocco, India, Crete and Italy. He is a winner of the Winsor & Newton Painting Prize and the Clairefontaine Art Award. He is the author of three books published by The Crowood Press: Still Life in Gouache, Drawing and Painting on Location, and Painting Landscapes. He also writes regular articles for The Artist, and Artists & Illustrators magazines.
Itinerary Overview – 7 day tour
- All tour members must arrive in Dubrovnik the day before Day 1.
- Day1 – Arrive at Dubrovnik Airport and transported to Cavtat.
- Day 2 – Transfer to the Island of Korcula, Tour of Dubrovnik on the way.
- Day 3-6 – Days spent on the Island Painting
- Day 7 – Return to Cavtat.
- Day 8 – End of painting tour, return home
DAY 1
Guests are met at the Dubrovnik airport the day of the start date.
DAY 2
Shuttled to the Island of Korcula. However we start our trip with a stop in Dubrovnik where we have a 2 hour historical tour, followed by lunch. We leave Dubrovnik around 3pm and drive along the coast to Orebic where we catch a car ferry to the Island of Korcula. Here you will be able to settle into your home away from home in Lumbarda.
DAY 3-6
At the “LOVRIC” breakfast will be served daily, before travelling to different parts of the Island. On the tour you will see vistas rich in vineyards, quiet coves, small beaches, flourishing olive tress and quaint architecture. This part of Croatia is unique in its beauty, encouraging one to take pleasure in painting and sketching.
Your painting tour includes scenic areas such as Zrnovo, Pupnat, Smokvica, Orebic on the Peljesac Peninsula (Mainland), Racisce, Korcula and Lumbarda, as picked by your instructor. Our day will begin at 8am with breakfast and then the day is set in motion by your instructor… each instructor will vary slightly but mornings and afternoons will be for painting, with a box lunch on location, in between.
At the end of the day we will return to the “LOVRIC”. You will have some time to yourself before the evening meal and are encouraged after dinner to spend time exploring the area or enjoying wine with your fellow artists, relaxing before your next day of painting.
DAY 7
This is our transfer day back to Dubrovnik. We check out by 10am and are on a bus by 10:30am. We will stop for lunch at Vila Koruna in Ston, which is about half way. We allow for 1.5 hours to walk around Ston. By late afternoon, you will be taken to our Villa Cavtat accommodations, located 3km from the airport. Our last dinner will be in the quaint village of Cavtat.
DAY 8
Fly home.
