Enjoy the feeling of plein air drawing in Tuscany with our experienced tutor Brigitte Guhle. We will mainly focus on portraiture and nude studies in different drawing techniques.
Having stayed since 13 years at Villa del Monte, which is closed now, we will stay now for the first time at Fattoria Bacio. In the morning we will draw and sketch in front of our models and in the afternoon you will get to know different drawing and painting techniques. Sometimes we will do excursions to Certaldo, Boccaccio and San Gimignano, where we will do some portraits of locals. On your free day you can for instance travel to Florence, Siena or Pisa.
A typically Tuscan dinner will be served in the afternoon. You can also find typical specials like chicken hunters style with laurel oatcake, small courgette cakes and pasta with Salsicca and pumpkin. What you definitely should not miss is a glass of outstanding regional Chianti.
Target group: This course is meant to be for beginners as well as for advanced learners.
Where do we paint/sketch/draw? We will draw and sketch mainly outside en plein air. Nevertheless, if the weather is bad we usually have access to the studio inside the hotel, where we can draw and sketch, too.
Accommodation:
Located at the heart of Chianti, in 35km distance to Florence and 6km distance to Certaldo you will find Fattoria Bacio between wine yards and olive groves right on top of a hill. The buildings can be dated back to the 19th century. Further they are surrounded by ancient trees and mediterranean nature. On a large area of 340 acres you will find manifold olive and wine cultivations, which provide an atmospheric charm to the refurbished villa and its outbuildings.
You can either relax in the well trimmed garden or in a big swimming pool. You will stay in typically Tuscan rooms, that are named after the flowers in the garden. The rooms are equipped differently and need to be requested individually. Some bedrooms share one bathroom. Wifi is available, TV is not available.
