Accommodation:

From the moment you turn into the drive you realise that this really is a special place. A truly magnificent country house hotel, which commands panoramic and inspirational views of Lake Windermere and mountains from the seclusion of its own wooded grounds. Just three miles north of Windermere and two miles south of Ambleside, it is situated in the heart of Lakeland.

As you walk into the hotel you are greeted to a large imposing main hall with oak-panelled walls, a collection of fine oil paintings and the magnificent oak staircase tell their own story of a hotel rich in history and character.

The place is blessed with so many architectural and decorative examples of our heritage, not to mention hidden treasures, such as the original mosaic floors, ornate carved fireplaces, the traditional piano room that has glorious views across the lake to Langdale Pikes. The house is listed as one of national and historic interest, which has led it to feature in some classic BBC productions and more recent ITV documentaries.

All the bedrooms are individually and tastefully furnished, some with unique features such as jacuzzi bath, four poster bed and stained glass ceiling roof, most have stunning lake views and all are en-suite. The hotel also boasts a unique bedroom. This particularly romantic room is situated over the boat house, where you will be lulled to sleep to the sound of gently lapping water. Many of the rooms are very spacious and an absolute delight.

The six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which gently slope from the hotel to the lake shore were planned and laid out by a landscape architect of international distinction. The gardens are a riot of colour all year round, but May is a particularly spectacular month when the garden is ablaze with flowering azaleas and rhododendrons. As you explore the woodland walks and lakeshore paths you will see why the Hotel’s gardens are some of the most perfectly set in the whole of Europe.

Langdale Chase enjoys one of the longest garden frontages to Lake Windermere and guests can enjoy the tranquility of the Lake plus watch steamers and sailing boats go gently by. With such magnificent gardens and a truly unmatched setting it is little wonder that Langdale Chase is one of the Lake District’s most popular venues.

It goes without saying that the Lake District is the perfect place to bring your non-painting partner as there are all sorts of outdoor activities from the gentile boat trips and walk along the shores of the lakes to a whole array of outdoor activities including hill walking/trekking, horse riding, rock climbing, canoeing, sailing,  golfing and many more. Some activities come with discounts for hotel residents.

Please note that as this is a popular venue for exclusive weddings which can occur on Friday, Saturday and Sundays, we are not able to confirm extra night bookings until 6 months before the holiday.
