Watercolour Laid Bare

19.02.2019 - 22.02.2019 Lake District | Brian Smith watercolor, watercolour, painting, sketching, life 324 GBP

*NEW* Simple elements of paper, pigment and water offer so many alternatives for the artist to create individual work. Brian can show you the many options available with quick exercises and detailed examination of choices to create striking, successful work. Use monochrome to focus on simple values. We will also cover complex issues to lift work to the next level.

Location at Highham Hall College:

Higham Hall is on the northern edge of the Western Lake District, between Cockermouth (3 miles) and Keswick (8 miles), a mile from the northwest tip of Bassenthwaite Lake.

Accommodation:

Higham consists of an 1828 manor house (the Hall) with the main ammenities for our typical activities and two properties used mainly for extra accommodation each about 100m from the Front Door: the Cottage Bungalow (level access possible across the rear car park) and the Gatehouse (by the main gate).
Whilst 21 of our 32 bedrooms are Ensuite, the ‘Standard’ rooms are all less than 25 paces to their nearest bathroom. Indeed, 4 of these ‘standard’ rooms are spacious with the enviable front-facing view with our other largest rooms, naturally, have priority for sharing pairs of students.
Be aware that we cannot guarantee the exact bedroom you will get as we strive to meet many different needs. Whilst bedrooms all vary in size, the same basic facilities are provided in each.
Being a typical older building, there are a few steps to negotiate now and then. Please let us know if you have a genuine need for as few steps as possible and we will do our best to find a suitable room.
