Free to live a Fairy Tale

Each region of Italy has either a coastline or a border to other countries - except one: The region of Umbria. It is located in the heart of Italy and borders solely to the regions of Tuscany, Marche and Lazio. The landscape of Umbria is hilly and one third of the land is even covered with mountains. Besides, the river Tiber runs through the land, leaving fertile ground behind. Umbria is definitely a region rich in treasures to discover, with a wide range of proposals: from nature trails to historical-artistic ones, up to food and wine – its atmosphere makes you feel like being in a fairy tale. And talking of unique, dreamy and exquisite places: Castello di Baccaresca will make you feel exactly like that.

The Castle of Baccaresca is the ideal starting point to get to know Umbria, its landscapes, its culture, its history, but also the perfect place to calm down and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. Its estate consists of about 250 hectares and is situated between woods and fields crossed by paths and ancient mule tracks. Leaving the main road one feels to be immersed in a place, where the time seems to have stopped. A unique and fairy tale place, one of those only Umbria, “the green heart of Italy”, can present.

Along the white road begins to tower the shape of the upper castle that stands like a sentinel of the whole valley, after many centuries still seems to play its role of austere guard as it did in the 12th century when the Castello’s position made it a place of particular strategic and military importance. But over the centuries, it has become gentler and the old military function has disappeared, leaving the place to a noble castle embellished with frescoes and monumental chimneys that will make you feel like being on holiday in an artwork.

So, despite maintaining its original form, it has been carefully restored and today offers its guests comfortable, atmospheric environments in 29 bedrooms on two levels. All of them are uniquely and finely furnished and equipped with every comfort. The view differs and is dependent on the room you are in, but is in every case stunningly beautiful. Enjoyable not only from your room but from one of the terraces for example, as well – which would also be a great spot to build up your easel and capture the magnificence of the Italian scenery. Fields of fields interspersed with thick woods will accompany you to the main entrance. Do not be surprised if you see a hare or a pheasant appear, remember, you have just left the city behind you and are about to experience the magic of Umbria.
